Race to the MVP

Along with playoff predictions, BOWC is going to list the top five candidates for MVP of the 2008-2009 season.

5) Alexander Ovechkin - Only 56 goals? That's 9 goals less than last season. What happened Ovechkin? Only a +8? I don't think you'd be anywhere without Mike Green

4) Mike Riberio - I think I saw three different Mike Riberio shootout highlights that each could have been the shootout goal of the year. The one he had on Peter Budaj was incredible. What a cocky, cheeky player, but he has amazing shootout moves and that has to count for something

3) Brad Staubitz - Did you SEE his fight against Jordan Tootoo? MVP. MVP

2) Todd Bertuzzi - Self proclaimed 'score on 99% on breakaways' and he is right. The only time he gets stopped on a breakaway is when he hits a post. That is invaluable to a team, especially all the breakaways he will get during the playoffs

1) Chuck Kobasew - Breakout season for Chucky. If he had played a full 82 games, he would have broken the 30 goal plateau. Leader on and off the ice, he is indispensable.
