7 Games, 7 Prospects

Last night marked the start of the canucks preseason. The canucks did not dress many of their superstars. Bernier, Bieksa and Demitra were all absent from the lineup. Yet they were still able to defeat the star studded oilers in a shootout (With Garon in net who went 12-0 last year in shootouts). The Highlight of the game was when a female oilers fan being showcased on the jumbotron decided to take her top off. Don Taylor described it best, when he said "Holy Gazoomba's Batman".

I am stealing the concept for my 7/7 from TSN. For each of the next 7 canucks games, i will profile the one prospect that shines the most in that game. It is important to profile the prospects this year especially for the canucks, because with our lack of offence, many young players will get the chance to shine. If we can't make the playoffs, at least we can develop some young talent this year.

Last night, the prospect that impressed me most was Dan Gendur. He scored the game tying goal late in the third. Last season he played for the Everett Silver Tips in the WHL. He had 29 goals and 55 assists in 60 games with them. He's 21 years old and he was drafted in the 7th round by the Canucks in 2007. He's a local boy from Vancouver BC. He'll be wearing the number 54 this season.
