Update on Sundin

The likelihood that Mats Sundin will retire, grows more probable with each passing minute this offseason. Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun reports that Sundin has had a very different training regiment this off season. In past seasons he was working out much more.

some suggest he might only play half a season, and join a team once he is in full form. But its clear he's unwilling to do that, given what happened at the trade deadline last year. He did not want to be shopped to another team in order to win the cup. He wanted to be with the team from the beginning of the year.

There is a festival cup charity game september 5th in Toronto. Now that he's finally away from Sweden, we should get an answer during this week. With the announcement of Brian McCabe's departure, the Leafs might have just enough cap space to sign Sundin now. But nowhere near the 10 million that vancouver offered him.
